How to Install Windows 7

There are two ways to install Windows 7 operating system on your computer. The first option is upgrading an existing Vista installation to Windows 7. The second option is to perform a clean install.

In this article we will perform a clean installation of Windows 7. This process will take you around 30 minutes to complete and requires very little interaction.

Before installing make sure you take the following steps to move your programs, files and settings from your existing operating.

Steps to a Clean Installation:

1) The first thing you will need to do is create a list of existing applications installed on your computer and decide which ones you'll want on the clean install. Take the time before the installation process to gather up all the installation discs and product keys of the applications you will be installing.

2. Use the Free tool from Microsoft called Easy Windows Transfer to create a transfer file containing all of the files and settings from your existing computer.

3. After you have completed the steps above it is now time to install Windows 7. Insert your Windows 7 installation disc into your computers CD/DVD drive and follow the onscreen directions. Now select "Custom Installation" this option is what allows you to perform a clean installation.

4. Now it is time to installation your application and transfers your files that we saved using Windows Easy Transfer. That is all you need to do to perform a clean Windows 7 installation.
